Derelict House at Morning Bay to be Demolished

Originally built as a private residence in the 1920s the cottage at Morning Bay was acquired by the Grosvenor family in 1962 and rebuilt as Cove Lee – a substantial home with a swimming pool and, interestingly, a garage. Since its compulsory acquisition by the government in 1969 it has fallen into disrepair and is now little more than a vandalised, graffiti covered ruin.

The house has now been cleared for removal as a threat to public safety. Work will begin this month and will involve the removal of all building waste including asbestos and filling in the pool. Finally the site will be remediated and returned to natural bushland which will be a definite improvement on the current eyesore.
